A FLORAL ARTIST’S HANDBOOK TO STUNNING VASE STYLING

“I will be the gladdest thing under the sun! I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one.”

Edna St. Vincent Millay

THE LEOPARD & THE LAKE VASE, IRA UDAIPUR

“Everything I do in design is colour-oriented. I think in colour. Whether it is flower design, space design, table design, or installation, you would always see a predominant colour story in all my work.”

Vases are more than holders for your flowers and foliage; they are carriers of elegance and personality in your living spaces. Just like the Leopard & the Lake Vase by Ira Udaipur - a unique, handcrafted vessel that exudes folkloric magic and artisanal details with its hand-carved accents.

Lalima has built a colour symphony of burnt orange and yellow in this scene, styling a bunch of seasonal blooms perfectly in the vase to bring out its unique aesthetic. This rustic ‘sunflower bouquet’ captures the warmth and vibrancy of spring with its rich colours and natural elements, creating a visually striking bouquet that exudes rustic charm and seasonal flair.

SPHERE VASE HEXA – SQUARE, 101 COPENHAGEN

“I’m particularly drawn to seasonal flowers that are naturally available in the environment around me. Delhi currently is at the cusp of Spring and Summer seasons, and I utilize what is seasonally available – hence, dahlias and semal flowers make a strong case in this arrangement,”

Perfectly sized for all kinds of floral arrangements, the Sphere Vase - Square by 101 Copenhagen is inspired by ancient Chinese vases, and has been reimagined in beautiful textures and tones by the brand. Lalima plays with its unique silhouette to bring about a floral-scape that is not only beautiful to behold, but is also a study in colour, sticking to a monochromatic palette to create a sophisticated display.

This tonal array creates a cohesive and harmonious look that emphasizes the impact of the lavender hue, creating a tableau filled with natural elegance and sophisticated charm, reminiscent of an English countryside.

OFFSET VASE, 101 COPENHAGEN

“Floral arrangements should imitate nature, and give prose to nature’s poetry of flowers, and all the other elements found therein.”

Weather, water and light requirement, and vase texture – these are the three things Lalima checkpoints before choosing particular florals for a display. Just like in nature, her style is a verdant showcase of nature’s gradients, effusive of a vibrant, garden aesthetic that is relatively maximal at its core.

For this particular composition, Lalima has gone for tropical stems, celery sticks, and crab claws for an unabashed “bohemian bouquet” style, incorporating a diverse mix of blooms and foliage, resembling the untamed beauty of a wild garden. It embraces an eclectic mix of colours, textures, and shapes, creating a lush bouquet that exudes natural charm and whimsical prose.
